Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
Advance purchase is strongly recommended, as tours often sell out quickly. To maximize your chance of getting the day and time you prefer, please book well in advance. You can do this online or over the phone using only Visa, Mastercard or American Express.
Who can ride the Segway ® PT?
Although riding a Segway PT is relatively easy, Washington, DC law does require that all riders be at least 16 years of age (an adult or guardian must accompany children under 18). Also, riders should have the ability to make motions such as climbing and descending stairs without assistance. The Segway PT is not appropriate for those weighing under 100 pounds or over 250 pounds.
I have children in my group that are under 16 years old. Can they still come on the tour?
No, unfortunately DC law requires all riders to be 16 or older.
When should I arrive?
We ask that you arrive at our location 30 minutes prior to your tour start time for training and paperwork. The sooner we start training, the sooner we can be gliding around town!
How much time of the tour is actually spent on a Segway?
The majority of your time will be on the Segway. We will start off with a short training session and then be on the Segway for the remainder of the time. There are no stops unless the tour group would like to stop and rest or take pictures.
How do I learn to ride a Segway PT?
All customers are required to take a 20-30 minute hands-on training session to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Riders are trained on Segway PT operation and emergency stops. All riders are required to wear a safety helmet.
What exact locations do we visit?
The exact itinerary and route of the tour varies somewhat from tour to tour, so we can’t say ahead of time exactly which locations will be visited on a specific tour. We do, however, usually visit as many of the following as possible: the White House, the Old Executive Office Building, the Blair House, the Ronald Reagan International Trade building, the American History Museum, the Washington Monument, the World War II Memorial, the Smithsonian Castle, the Natural History Museum, the Hirshorn Gallery of Modern Art, the Freer Gallery, the National Air and Space Museum, the Botanic Gardens, the US Capitol, the Canadian Embassy, the US Navy Memorial, the National Archives, the Newseum, the J. Edgar Hoover FBI Headquarters, Freedom Plaza and DC City Hall.

While we can stop at some of the locations to take in the views and snap some photos, there isn’t enough time on the tour to go into any of the sites–there is too much ground to be covered!
What happens if it rains?
Tours run rain or shine. But don’t worry! Some of our best tours have taken place in less-than-perfect weather! We have ponchos available to borrow, or feel free to bring your own!
What if I have to cancel?
Once purchased tickets are non-refundable since your space is being guaranteed on the tour. If you think you can’t make your scheduled tour time, give us a call and we can reschedule you subject to availability.

I am a DC-area local – will I enjoy this tour?
Though you may have seen the sights before, you will still enjoy the unique experience of gliding around the Nation’s Capital on a Segway and seeing it all from a different perspective. Switch things up even more with Capital Segway’s Private VIP Tour.
Can I buy food or drinks along the way? What about souvenirs?
Unfortunately, the tour is structured so that we can visit a large amount of Washington DC’s landmarks, which leaves very little time for any other stops. We recommend you arrive full, as you can only bring necessary items on the Segway. The tour finishes in downtown Washington DC, so you will have the opportunity to go souvenir shopping at the end of the tour.

We will return to our tour departure point at 818 Connecticut Avenue NW.

How does the Segway PT work?
This breakthrough technology, termed “dynamic stabilization,” is the essence of the Segway PT. Dynamic stabilization enables the Segway PT to work seamlessly with the body’s movements. Gyroscopes and tilt sensors in the unit monitor a rider’s center of gravity at about 100 times a second. When the rider leans slightly forward, the Segway PT moves forward. When the rider leans slightly back, the Segway PT moves backward.
How safe is the Segway PT?
The utmost care and research has gone into ensuring that the Segway PT is safe. The Segway PT’s balancing technology is truly revolutionary and provides an exceptional riding experience.
